Lango - Spanish

A strong cultural emphasis grounds our early elementary language lessons in the customs and traditions of Spanish-speaking peoples, while a simple literacy component ensures that these students not only listen, speak, sing and play in Spanish, but read and write as well. Our curriculum takes students on imaginary journeys where they work on fun problem solving adventures built around cultural themes.

Instructors: Kelli Cahoone earned a B.A. in Spanish in 1996 after a semester in Seville, Spain and extensive travel throughout Mexico. Upon graduation, she moved to Valparaiso, Chile and then later took a bus across the Andes to Buenos Aires, Argentina. After three years there teaching English, she returned to Denver, where she has been teaching Spanish to children ever since. She is also a singer/songwriter and a proud mother of one, and is thrilled to bring Lango to the Denver area!

Gabriela Mendoza learned Spanish from her mother and father who moved to Colorado from Monterrey, Mexico. She learned English at five, and spoke only Spanish until then. She graduated from high school a semester early and entered college at 17. She is currently working toward her bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Colorado at Denver and has plans to continue her education towards a master's degree in child psychology.
